Welcome

Sunday, October 29, FBC voted to extend a call to Phil Herrington as her new Senior Pastor.  He accepted and will assume the leadership role sometime in January.  The Herringtons will be relocating to Coldspring in the coming months.

As his partner in ministry as well as in life, Jennifer works in the Special Education Department for Humble ISD.  Beka is employed by the Round Rock ISD and Reagan will be a senior at HBU.  They have two other young adult children and two grandchildren.  Pastor Phil writes, “We have enjoyed our short time and opportunity to meet the folks of FBC.  We look forward to developing great relationships as we serve our Lord together.”  Please pray for their entire family as they begin the process of moving to our community.

Phil Herrington graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from HBU and a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.   He was ordained to preach by Mims Baptist in Conroe.

Pastor Phil founded the Atascocita Community Church in partnership with the BGCT, SBC, and Union Baptist Association in order to reach the expanding unchurched population of that area.  The church began with 8 families and in 17 years, grew to 500 in weekly attendance.  As teaching pastor, he sought to “teach the Bible in such a way that the unchurched understood and the believers were challenged in obedience. “    From December 2014 – June, 2016, he served as the Intentional Interim Pastor for Rural Shade, where they experienced 20% growth.  Currently, he is serving at Sterlingwood Church in Houston and is leading them in the process of calling a senior pastor.

He states that “the Church is the hope of the world in delivering the message of Jesus Christ!  I have a deep passion to see those far from God know Him, believers equipped to do His ministry, and our lives glorify Him.”
